Cordoba is a province in Spain and it has the capital city also named as Cordoba. Montilla is a city which is located in the south of Cordoba province. It is not much at a distance from Cordoba city as the distance between the two is only 44 kilometers. Cordoba is one of the most famous cities of Spain having tourists from all parts of the world whole year round. Montilla is not as famous as Cordoba city is but its getting fame because of its great location.

Montilla is small and decent. The population of Montilla is only thirty thousand which makes it very less crowded. Amazing factor is that Montilla is an old city and it has its origination from the roman times. Another aspect is that Montilla was never a focus of attention for the Muslim rulers of Spain. The current inhabitation of Montilla has the bases from the 13th century.

The major developments in the city took place after the 18th century. Montilla turned into a religious city in the 18th century and many places of worship were created in such times. Similarly palaces, gardens and abbeys of Montilla faced major developments in such times and things are very well maintained even today. The major income of the city is dependent upon the production of olive oil and vine.

Montilla remained famous because of its vine production. Montilla had the best production of vine in Spain which gave it international recognition also. The city was also named after a famous vine. This vine was originated from Pedro Ximenez grapes. Montilla has more grape plantations then anything else in the agriculture areas of city which makes it an excellent place for the production of vine.

Being located in the southern part of Cordoba Montilla has a great atmosphere. The weather conditions for living in the city are excellent. The only tough months for living in Montilla are the months of June and July when the days reach their maximum heat in temperature huren spanje. At such times temperature of the city reach up to 40 degrees in the day timings.

The city remains sunny almost whole year which makes it an ideal place to be visited especially in winter. The nights are always pleasant in Montilla even in summer months. As Montilla is not much a bigger city there aren’t many facilities in the city in comparison with other big cities but it still is a nice place to visit in vacations.
